Nursery
As part of 'Foundation Stage' education†, we run a nursery (age 3+) and reception class, 'Admission' (age 4+). While Admission forms part of the main school, the Nursery is housed in a separate, purpose-built premises on campus with its own play area, garden and kitchen. Inside, the Nursery is equipped with every possible tool for promoting the child's development and stimulating the imagination. A homely atmosphere provides an emotionally secure environment for early learning while small group sizes ensure that the well-being and development of each child can be monitored and guided by our dedicated staff.
Development
At St. Philip's, we believe Nursery education should be both stimulating and fun. That's why we run a varied curriculum based upon a combination of roleplay, group activities, art, play, reading, writing, number work and interactive educational software. Through these methods and in the capable hands of a well-qualified staff, we are committed to ensuring your child progresses in the six areas of development laid out in the National Curriculum for Foundation Stage, namely
- Personal, social and emotional development.
- Communication, language and literacy.
- Mathematical development.
- Knowledge and understanding of the world.
- Physical development.
- Creative development.
We encourage children to achieve goals set for Foundation Stage by the time they join Admission. With these skills, children who pass through our nursery are well-equipped to enter formal education with confidence.
