Instructors from Professional Academy Soccer Schools (PASS).
Sport
Sport at St. Philip's focuses on netball and rounders for girls, football and cricket for boys and swimming for all pupils. Other sports are available as after school activities. We recognize the benefits of sport for team spirit and 'character' and are therefore keen for every child to participate fully. Teams in football and netball are chosen from preps 3 and 4 to play other schools in the local area.
Boys' sport
Football and cricket are taught by specialist coaches from Professional Academy Soccer Schools (PASS). As certified sports instructors (Football Association), PASS are well qualified to deliver first rate coaching centred on skills, competition and team-building.
Girls' sport
Girls' sport is taught by Miss Dewar. As an ex-pupil herself, Miss Dewar perfectly understands her students and is well placed to motivate them. The netball team is very active and competes annually in two tournaments, the New Hall Netball Tournament and the John Payne Deanery Sports Tournament.
Swimming
Swimming is on Fridays at the Meadgate School, Gt. Baddow. Qualified specialists from 'Splash' instruct within the National Curriculum with an emphasis on safety, fun and friendly encouragement.
Physical Education
Each teacher is responsible for a weekly PE lesson. Owing to our excellent facilities, pupils enjoy a varied programme based on the National Curriculum. Exercises include floor work, aerobic training, wall bar and rope exercises, vault, hand-eye co-ordination exercises plus team games. We take PE seriously and pupils may receive House points for effort and performance.
